Charles Henry Passey 1847-1898 “Wooded avenue” Sold
Charles Henry Passey was a landscape artist born near Stoke-on-Trent in 1847. His father, a commercial traveller moved the family to Islington London when Passey was very young. By 1878 Passey had married and living in Clapham. His career now well underway he was exhibiting at several galleries in the capital including The Royal Institute Of Oil Painters. He died in 1898 aged 50.
Much of his work shows Surrey and Kent landscapes although he did also paint in Yorkshire. His work often features harvesting or sheep in country lanes. This particular painting depicts a wooded avenue with a village beyond. The work is signed and condition is generally good with some small paint losses and some minor cracature. Housed in an ornate frame.
